Associate Professor - National Research University Higher School of Economics
Olga Karamalak is an Associate Professor of Foreign Languages Department at National Research University Higher School of Economics (Moscow, Russia) where she is a lecturer of Research Skills (ESP) and coordinator of Bachelor theses.
Olga holds a PhD degree (2009) in theory of language (Chelyabinsk, Russia). She was a Fulbright FLTA (2011-2012) at Lees-McRae College (Banner Elk, NC, USA), a visiting scholar (2015) (DAAD Immanuel Kant Program) at Leibnitz University (Hannover, Germany) and (2016) Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic).
She also gave lectures at Karabuk University (Karabuk, Turkey) and Pernambuco Federal Agrarian University (Recife, Brazil). She is a member of a global research network Distributed Language Group. Olga is a visiting research scholar at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, USI – Università della Svizzera Italiana.
Her research interests include digital communication in fashion domain performed on social networks, in particular Internet memes and hashtags aimed at higher users’ engagement, online interaction from cognitive, semiotic and ecological (bio-socio-cultural) perspectives.
