Paula von Wachenfeldt

Paula von Wachenfeldt is Associate Professor in Fashion Studies at Stockholm University where she has been part of the establishment of Fashion Studies as an academic discipline. She has conducted research on the topics of luxury, media and communication, using both historical and contemporary perspectives. In a number of academic books and peer reviewed journals she has published on the historical debate on luxury (Intellect) and the first institutionalization of fashion and its close relation to credit use in early modern France(Routledge). From a contemporary view, she has published on luxury brands’ self-representation (Intellect) and their mediation on social media (Fashion Theory). Forthcoming publications investigate, among others, media power activism (Routledge) and she is the co-editor of the upcoming Bloomsbury volume Luxury Fashion and Media Communication: Between the Material and Immaterial (2023).
