Preshita Thakur is a PhD candidate in Communication Sciences at the Institute of Media and Journalism (IMeG), Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), based in Lugano, Switzerland.
Her research centres on the digitization of fashion magazines and its intersection with digital youth cultures, a reflection of her long-standing interest in fashion media. Originally from Himachal Pradesh in northern India, Preshita holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Communication from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (India) and a Master’s in Journalism and Creative Writing. She has worked in marketing and communications within the Indian fashion industry, but it was her formative internships at Elle India and Elle Singapore that played a key role in shaping her academic path. She is currently pursuing her doctoral work under the supervision of Professor Matthew Hibberd and Professor Lorenzo Cantoni.
